Stunning views, gorgeous wildflowers and a shocking discovery.
At 12,018 feet, it is the highest peak in the Snowy Range, and features some of the most underrated and stunning scenery in Wyoming. While other trails in Colorado are swarming with people, this hidden gem offers much needed solitude, abundant wildflowers and massive alpine lakes. This is, without a doubt, one of our favorite hikes outside of Colorado.
Unfortunately this mountain also has a very dark history. In 1955 United Airlines Flight 409 crashed into Medicine Bow Peak killing all 66 on board. Today hikers can still view pieces of wreckage scattered among the boulders at the base of the mountain. You won't believe the wreckage that we found!
